Transport and playback
Transport controls sit in the timeline toolbar. They drive playback, looping, and how you move around the arrangement.
Play, pause, and stop
Press Space to toggle play and pause. Press Esc to stop and return the playhead to the cue point. Use the toolbar buttons for the same actions.
Playhead vs loop region
The playhead (primary vertical line) is where playback starts when you press play. The loop region (secondary markers in the timeline header) defines what repeats during playback and recording. They are independent — you can loop a section while the playhead starts elsewhere.
Loop toggle
Press L or use the loop button to enable or disable looping. When loop is on, playback repeats between the loop start and end. See Looping for loop recording modes and stacked audio.
Follow playhead
Enable Follow playhead in recording settings so the viewport pans automatically to keep the playhead centered during playback.
Pan and zoom
Drag the timeline background horizontally to pan. Hold Ctrl or ⌘ and scroll to zoom. The ruler and pulse grid update with the viewport.
Frame selection
Press F to frame the current selection — the viewport zooms to fit selected clips or the loop region.
Timeline snap
While dragging clips or edges, hold 1, 2, or 3 to toggle snap to clips, pulse grid, and loop points. Snap preferences persist in your saved editor state.
