Pulse and tempo

Pulse tracks are sticky metronome lanes above your audio tracks. They define BPM, bar size, click sound, and the beat grid on the timeline.

Pulse track basics

Each pulse track has a name, BPM, bar size (time signature), and click sound. Mute a pulse track to silence its click without removing the grid.

Beat and bar grid

The timeline ruler aligns to the primary pulse track. Clips and breakpoints snap to beats and bars when snap-to-pulses is enabled.

Tempo breakpoints

Double-click the pulse lane to add a breakpoint — a tempo or meter change at a sample position. Drag breakpoints to move them; select and press Delete to remove.

Multiple pulse tracks

Add more than one pulse track when different sections need different grids. Only one drives MIDI clock output at a time (configured in recording settings).

MIDI clock output

In recording settings, enable MIDI clock and choose an output device. Vamp sends clock from the primary pulse track so external drum machines and sequencers stay in sync.
