Clips and arrangement
Clips are the audio regions on the timeline. Each clip belongs to one track and shows a waveform, creator avatar, and mode badge.
Select and move clips
Click a clip to select it. Drag to move it in time or onto another track. Hold Shift while clicking or drag a marquee to multi-select.
Trim and resize
Drag the left or right edge to trim or loop-stretch a clip (tile the same content to fill a longer region). Stacked and last-take clips from loop recording store multiple audio layers inside one clip instead.
Clip modes
Clips from looped recording can be stacked or last take — check the badge in the clip header. Flat clips (imports and non-looped recordings) show a single-bar icon. Open the Audio tab in the clip slideout to see and edit individual layers in stacked clips.
Split a clip
Press S to enter split mode, then click a clip at the split point. Vamp divides the clip into two regions.
Clip overlap
When clips on the same track overlap, Vamp crops and splits them automatically so only one clip occupies any moment in time.
Clip groups
Select multiple clips and press Mod+G to group them. Groups appear in the clip groups lane above pulse tracks. Rename a group from its slideout without deleting the underlying clips.
Import audio files
Drag audio files from your computer onto the timeline. Vamp creates clips on a new or existing track and places them sequentially from the paste position.
Clipboard
Use Mod+C, Mod+X, and Mod+V to copy, cut, and paste clips, groups, tracks, and effects. Context menus offer the same actions.
Clip slideout
Select a clip to open Details (name, latency compensation, clip gain) and Audio (layered waveform diagram with per-layer mute and trim).
Delete clips
Select clips and press Delete or Backspace to archive them.
